British Isles: South-east Airports

Aegean Airlines is launching a four-times weekly Athens–Gatwick service on 28th October. Its Larnaca–Heathrow service will move to Gatwick on the same date.

American Airlines is reducing its winter operation between Boston and Heathrow to one service daily from 27th October, when the daytime departure from Boston will be cancelled.

British Airways has published details of its winter services from London City. The ski destinations of Chambery and Geneva will again be served from mid December, while its service to Nice will be suspended from 3rd November to 9th March. Its new service to the Isle of Man will continue throughout the winter.

Caribbean Airlines has further scaled back its Gatwick operation. Its four times-weekly Port of Spain–Gatwick service has been reduced to twice a week, and its Barbados-Gatwick service cancelled.

Cyprus Airways has cancelled plans to operate an Athens–Heathrow service, due to start on 1st October.

Delta will be reducing its Detroit-Heathrow service from ten a week to daily from 27th October.

Singapore Airlines is introducing a fourth daily service between Singapore and Heathrow from 28th October.

South African Airways is cancelling its Cape Town–Heathrow service on 15th August, bringing to an end over 35 years of service.

SriLankan Airlines is increasing its Heathrow operation from a daily service to 12 times a week from 13th December.

Virgin Atlantic is introducing a third weekly frequency on its Gatwick–Montego Bay service on 28th October.

British Isles: Other Airports

Brussels Airlines launches Brussels–Bristol and Brussels–Newcastle services on 28th October with Dash 8 Q400 turboprop (Flybe) aircraft. BMI Regional previously flew these routes.

Iberia is cancelling its service from Madrid to Glasgow on 30th August and to Manchester on 14th September. Both services were launched earlier this year and were operated by Air Nostrum.

Loganair has introduced a summer-only Saturday Norwich–Isle of Man service, to be operated to 22nd September in conjunction with flyBe.

Monarch Airlines is launching a number of new routes from East Midlands for the winter season: twice weekly to Lanzarote, Tenerife Sur, Alicante, and Faro, and thrice weekly to Malaga.  An East Midlands–Ibiza service will be launched on 23rd May 2013 with up to six flights a week.

Norwegian is adding a fourth weekly service between Oslo and Manchester on 28th October, and launches a four-times weekly Stockholm–Manchester service on 1st November.

SAS Scandinavian Airlines is launching a five times-weekly Stockholm-Birmingham service on 29th October.

Sun-Air of Scandinavia, British Airways franchise carrier, will launch a weekdays-only service between Manchester and Gothenburg on 27th August. Swedish carrier City Airline previously operated this route until it ceased operation last month.

WizzAir launches a twice-weekly Lublin–Luton service on 18th December.

Rest-of-World Developments

Air Europa launched a weekly Madrid-Banjul service on 20th June, and will launch a twice-weekly service to Bolivia on 29th November, between Madrid and Santa Cruz.

Blue Panorama Airlines is launching a weekly service to Managua on 11th July, as an extension of its Rome-Havana route.

Cyprus Airways has resumed its service to Jordan with a twice-weekly link between Larnaca and Amman.

Delta will be suspending its New York JFK-Prague and Atlanta-Barcelona services this winter.

Etihad is launching a daily Abu Dhabi–Sao Paulo service on 1st June 2013.

Flydubai launches a thrice-weekly Dubai–Bucharest service on 1st October, and twice-weekly service to Skopje on 18th October.

Hawaiian Airlines will launch a thrice-weekly Honolulu-Brisbane service on 27th November.

Malaysia Airlines has postponed until 25th November its planned Airbus A380 service between Kuala Lumpur and Sydney.

Mongolian Airlines launches a four-times weekly Ulan Bator–Shanghai Pu Dong service on 1st July.

Qatar Airways is splitting its operation to Japan from 28th October, when Osaka Kansai and Tokyo Narita will each receive dedicated daily nonstop service. It is also launching a thrice-weekly Doha–Johannesburg–Maputo service on 31st October.

SAS Scandinavian Airlines is launching a twice-weekly Copenhagen-Beirut service this winter.

South African Airways will resume flights to Abidjan on 17th August with a twice-weekly service via Accra. It launches a twice-weekly Johannesburg–Brazzaville service on 13th September.

Turkish Airlines is launching an Istanbul–Houston service on 1st April 2013, to be operated four times a week.

 Virgin America launches a daily San Francisco-Washington Reagan service on 14th August.

WizzAir launches a twice-weekly Kiev–Kutaisi service on 27th September. Kutaisi is Georgia’s second city.

Zambezi Airlines has resumed operation after a seven-month suspension of services. The airline will be using its fleet of CRJ200 aircraft on routes from Lusaka to Harare, Dar es Salaam, Johannesburg, Ndola and Lubumbashi
